How can an app help the fight
Online Webinar, 14:00 – 14:45, Thursday 14th May
Combating the spread of the COVID-19 epidemic requires the rapid identification of people who have come into recent contact with confirmed cases of the virus. This allows for timely interventions such as evacuation and disinfection of spaces and for assistance in locating people who have been close to a carrier or have been exposed to the virus, so that they too can be appropriately tested or treated.
COVTRACER is a mobile app that tracks locations solely for the user. The app was developed by a team of researchers and experts at RISE to contribute to the reduction of the spread of COVID-19.
The key topics of Dr. Andreas Kamilaris’ presentation will be:
• Benefits of COVTRACER
• COVTRACER features
• Aspects of privacy in tracing
• Initial results
• Future plans

The general domains his group are “smart cities” and “sustainable environments”.
